Time for the first update – our last week in Chicago! We finally got all of our belongings packed away in boxes and had movers haul it away to be stored for the next couple months (after the movers had a minor incident that delayed us a day). After that, it was just Alissa, Maeby, and I sitting in the condo with only the possessions we planned to bring with us for our summer travels. Which meant we didn’t have any furniture so we sat on the floor to work and slept in our sleeping bags on our camping pads. I still had a pretty good work setup though. 🙂

On the day before closing, we packed up the car and headed to a hotel for a few days. We thought it would be fun to go back to our old stomping grounds in Old Town so we booked our last nights in The Ambassador, the hotel Alissa and I stayed in on our wedding night! Maeby loved it too, jumping up on all of the ledges in the room and having carpet to run around on like an idiot again.

We had a ton of fun on our last few nights in Chicago, hitting up some of our favorite spots from our time living in the city. It was hard to believe that I had been living in Chicago for over 10 years, and 8 years for Alissa! We absolutely had to get dinner and Orso’s, where Alissa and I each got the jalapeno gnocchi. The next day we met up with some friends at Mousetrap (the Off Color Brewing tap room) for a couple beers. The next day was my birthday, so Alissa and I couldn’t miss a chance to go to Butch McGuires for lunch, which is likely the bar that I spent the most time at in Chicago. After that we met up with some more friends for a couple drinks at Begyle and dinner at Bad Apple. It felt like the perfect send-off from Chicago and were super grateful to be able to see so many friends right before we left. The next day, we re-packed the car and it was off to Michigan!

Goodbye Chicago!
